Corporate Responsibility

Entrepreneurial responsibility at Knorr-Bremse

Sustainability and social responsibility are important elements in any society – and are increasingly becoming issues in corporate governance too. Energy shortages, scarcity of resources, climate change and increased pressure of competition nowadays directly impact on a company’s business activities and future perspectives. Knorr-Bremse’s response has been to face up to its corporate responsibilities and integrate the concept of sustainability into its business strategy.

In October 2008 the central Corporate Responsibility (CR) department was set up within Knorr-Bremse AG. The department is charged with providing a new stimulus for sustainable business activities at Knorr-Bremse, developing systematic, integrated sustainability management within the Group, expanding Knorr-Bremse’s contribution to society and raising the profile of its activities in this area.

The company’s regular signing of the ”Charter on Sustainable Development” of the International Association of Public Transport (UITP) is indicative of the approach taken throughout the Knorr-Bremse Group. The company has thus committed itself to incorporating the three principles of sustainable development – social, economic and ecological compatibility – into all its activities.

On the pages that follow you will find more information to illustrate our ongoing commitment.
