Brake equipment and doors from Knorr-Bremse for the ÖBB railjet

[Mödling, January 2009]

Mödling's Knorr-Bremse GmbH, manufacturer of braking and safety systems for rail vehicles, provides not only reliable braking equipment for the new ÖBB premium vehicles; via its IFE Division, it also supplies car doors and a newly developed swivel step.

The new railjet has only recently begun to ply the Westbahn route between Vienna and Salzburg on a regular basis. Austrian technology has guaranteed safe braking in all weather conditions in 23 trains so far: their brake control systems, wheel slide protection, the sanding systems and the bogie equipment fitted with magnetic track brakes as well as the control stand equipment including direct and indirect brakes all come from Knorr-Bremse.

The Knorr-Bremse IFE Division Automatic Door Systems in Kematen/Ybbs has provided the railjet with passenger doors and a newly developed and especially compact swivel step for comfortable and safe boarding.
